President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr Aliyu Yahaya Gusau as the new Director-General of the Budget Office of the Federation.
Mr Afolabi Olajuwon, the spokesman of the Budget Office who confirmed the changes to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday said Gusau replaced the ex-D-G, Dr Bright Okogu.
According to Olajuwon, Okogu, whose tenure had yet to expire had been appointed as an Executive Director at the African Development Bank.
Until his new appointment, Gusau, an economics graduate from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was the Director Fiscal Policy, Budget Monitoring and Evaluation, Budget Office of the Federation.
Okogu, on the other hand, before his appointment as D-G Budget Office in December 2007, had held several top positions, including Senior Economist, International Monetary Fund, IMF, in Washington DC; Senior Operations Officer at the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, Fund and Market Analyst, OPEC Secretariat in Vienna, Austria.
He also served as Special Adviser to the Minister of Finance (2004 to 2007) and was also the pioneer Executive Secretary of Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
The changes are with immediate effect.
