The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has denounced some media reports insinuating that the redeployment of the former Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Division, Mr. Gbenga Komolafe, was due to allegations of fraud.
A statement issued in Abuja on Friday and signed by Mr Ohi Alegbe, NNPC Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division, described the reports as “mischievous and unprofessional.”
It explained that Komolafe’s redeployment was part of the ongoing reorganization that commenced earlier in the week with the appointment of a new Group Managing Director and retirement of eight Group Executive Directors, which had nothing to do with any allegation of financial malfeasance.
The statement, therefore, urged members of the public to discountenance such reports and called on journalists to adhere to the ethics of their profession and avoid unnecessary speculation.
Alegbe had in a statement on Friday announced Komolafe’s redeployment as Group General Manager, GGM, Special Duties, without giving reasons for the decision.
The statement also directed Mr Musa Usman, the most senior manager in the division to function as the GGM, Crude Oil Marketing Division, in his place.
