NNPC Appoints New GMs, Says Ex-Management Staff Sacked To Save Cost

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Thursday said it had appointed new group general managers to man some of its divisions.

The corporation announced this in a statement issued in Abuja by Mr Ohi Alegbe, its Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division.

The new General Managers are: Mr Mele Kyari, Crude Oil Marketing Division; Mr Ahmadu Sambo, NNPC Oilfield Services; Dr Surajdeen Afolabi, Information Technology Division/SAP; Mr Zubair Aliyu, NNPC Capital; and Mr Dafe Sejebor, Nigerian Petroleum Investment Management Services.

Others are Mrs Kemi Akitoye, Human Resources Division; Mr Godwin Okonkwo, Finance; Mr Bello Rabiu, Corporate Planning; Mr Anibo Kragha, Treasury; and Dalhatu Makama, Shipping.

Also appointed as Group General Managers are Mr Samuel Ndukwe (Power); Mr Mike Balami (Accounts); Mr Yusuf Matashi (LNG); Mr Rabiu Suleiman (Engineering and Technology); and Dr Olubunmi Oyetunde (Medical).

The statement explained that the downsizing of staff, which saw the exit of all its 38 senior managers billed to retire from now to December 2016, was designed to reduce cost.

“The exercise, apart from refocusing the corporation in the direction of a leaner and more efficient organisation, has enormous cost-saving benefits,’’ it added.
