The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has commended Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru, for appointing Alhaji Mati Ali as new Managing Director of Radio Jigawa.
Mr Shuaibu Leman, NUJ National Secretary, made the commendation in a statement issued on Friday in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
The union described Ali’s appointment as putting a round peg in a round hole, and expressed confidence that, as seasoned professional, the new helsman would ensure improvement in the services of the station.
It also pledged to support the governor in his programmes and policies geared towards developing the state.
The statement reads: “The NUJ national secretariat sincerely commends His excellency, Governor Badaru for putting a round peg in a round hole in the appointment of Alhaji Mati Ali as the Managing Director, Radio Jigawa.
“Sir, we are confident that with this appointment of a seasoned professional, there will be improvement in the services to the people of Jigawa, and even beyond.”
“While extending our profound appreciation to the Governor, we wish to reassure His Excellency of our support at all times,” it added.
