The National Working Committee (NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has nullified the purported suspension of the party’s national publicity secretary, Mr Olisa Metuh, by an Anambra faction of the party.
The committee’s position was contained in a resolution of its meeting which held on Wednesday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Mr Victor Kwon, PDP National Legal Adviser, in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday said the party’s NWC took the decision in a resolution of its meeting which held on Wednesday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
It said the party noted with concern, misleading reports in some section of the media that a certain group in Anambra, unknown to the PDP, had purportedly suspended Metuh, its National Publicity.
The statement reads in part: “For the avoidance of doubt, the NWC reiterates that Chief Olisa Metuh is a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and, as such, can only be disciplined by NEC, in accordance with Sections 57(7) and 59(3) of the PDP Constitution 2012 (as Amended), and that is in the event that a need for such arises. The purported suspension is therefore a nullity.”
It further said that the NWC restated its implicit confidence in Metuh and expressed satisfaction with his commitment towards the progress and development of the party at all levels.
The statement added that the NWC also nullified the alleged impeachment of Mr Olatunji Shelle,Lagos State PDP chairman.
