Rt Hon. Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has described the conferment of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State as a life member of Nigeria`s Body of Benchers as an appointment well-deserved.
Dogara, in a statement issued on Wednesday by Mr Turaki Hassan, his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, said Tambuwal had distinguished himself as a lawyer, a parliamentarian and a governor, so the appointment was well-deserved.
The statement read: “As a consummate lawyer and astute parliamentarian, Tambuwal has written his name in gold in the annals of history of the legal profession and the National Assembly.
“As a former Speaker, Tambuwal contributed immensely to the development of the institution of the legislature and the deepening of democracy in Nigeria.”
The Speaker, therefore, urged the governor to bring his wealth of experience as a lawmaker to bear on the legal profession in his new position.
It would be recalled that Dogara, a lawyer like Tambuwal, succeeded him as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
