The police on Thursday said that a former Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, who was abducted on Monday on his farm in Ondo State, has been released by his kidnappers.
The Street Journal recalls that Falae, 77, was kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen on his farm on his birthday and the hoodlums had initially demanded N100 million ransom before reducing it to N90 million.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Solomon Arase, made the disclosure to journalists in Akure while handing over Falae, also a former Minister of Finance, to his family.
The I-G, who was accompanied by Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Mike Ogbodu, and other senior police officers, did not give details of how Falae regained his freedom.
Arase, however, said the police would release further details on the rescue efforts to the press on a later date
