Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, on Wednesday admonished Muslims to preach and practice the virtue of love to humanity as taught by Prophet Mohammed.
A statement issued in Jos by Mr Emmanuel Nanle, the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, said Lalong gave the charge in his Eid-el-Kabir message to the Muslim Ummah.
According to the statement, Lalong called on religious leaders to preach the message of peace and love to their followers in order to promote mutual co-existence in the society.
“True religious practice must show love and also sacrifice to make a difference into the lives of fellow human beings,” the statement said.
Lalong urged Muslim faithful to extend hands of fellowship to all during the period.
It said the governor also reiterated his administration’s determination to provide purposeful leadership to the people through its ‘5-Point Policy Thrust’ with a view to ameliorating their sufferings.
The statement added that the Governor wished Muslims in the state a peaceful and rewarding Eid el-Kabir.
It said that Lalong also assured of a peaceful Sallah celebration as adequate security measures had been put in place to forestall any breach of the peace.
