The Kaduna State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kaduna on Thursday night upheld the April 11 election of Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Ahmed El-Rufai.
The Street Journal recalls that the petitioner, Mr Polycarp Danladi, had challenged El-Rufai’s election victory on account of alleged election malpractices and non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010, as amended.
Delivering judgment at night, the tribunal Chairman, Justice A. A. Adebara, held that the petition of Danaladi, who was the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, governorship candidate in the April 11 election lacked merit and dismissed it forthwith.
It would be recalled that the APGA candidate had also urged the tribunal panel to annul the election and order for a fresh election because, according to him, INEC did not capture his name in its Form EC 8A.
