The Jigawa State Police Command, on Thursday, said it had arrested a 60-year old woman, Hajiya Ladi Dahiru, suspected to be a human trafficker.
Mr Usman Tilli, the state Commissioner of Police, announced this in the state capital, Dutse, while parading the suspect and twelve young girls who she was allegedly trafficking.
Tilli disclosed that Dahiru was nabbed on Tuesday, while transporting the 12 victims, who are all below the age of 13, in Kazaure Local Government Area of the State by policemen attached to Safer Highway Patrol.
“The suspect claimed to have taken the girls from their various villages to attend Islamiyya Schools in Kabala Doki, Kaduna State.
“Based on our investigation, the parents of the victims whose ages range from nine to 12 years handed over their daughters to the suspect with the believe that they were going to Islamiya School in Kaduna.
“But further investigation revealed that the suspect only had a room and parlour in Kaduna, where she used the young girls for dubious act,” he said.
The CP further explained that Dahiru hoodwinked the parents of the girls, not only in Jigawa State, but other states in the North as well, adding that she would soon be charged to court.
