Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, on Monday took delivery of President Muhammadu Buhari’s second batch of ministerial nominees.
The Street Journal recalls that Buhari had last week sent the first list of 21 ministerial nominees whose screening by the Senate is slated for Tuesday October 13.
Buhari sent the second batch on Monday afternoon through his Chief of Staff, Mr Abba Kyari, who submitted it to Saraki.
The names of the last set of ministerial nominees have yet to be ascertained by our correspondent.
It would be recalled that the 1999 Nigerian Constitution, as amended, stipulates that the president appoints at least one minister from each of the 36 states of the federation.
The President had come under fire by critics, particularly the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for not appointing his cabinet members four months after his inauguration.
Besides, the nomination of some of the ministers generated controversies over the past few days, either from their states of origin or states denouncing the indigenship of some of the nominees.
