The Taraba State National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jalingo, has sacked ex-Acting Governor, Alhaji Sani Danladi, of the People’s Democratic Party, Taraba North Senatorial District, from the Senate.
Delivering judgement, the tribunal nullified Danladi’s election and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct fresh election in over 40 polling units.
The, Petitioner, Alhaji Ali Sani, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had approached the tribunal, seeking to nullify the ex-governor’s victory in the March 28 National Assembly elections.
Ali had contended that the election was fraught with violence, had failed to conform with the provisions of the 2010 Electoral Act, as amended.
It would be recalled that the tribunal had on September 30, sacked Senator Bashir Marafa, another PDP Senator from the state, and ordered INEC to return Yusuf Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress as the duly elected Senator.
