Again, Supreme Court Says Gombe Governor, Dankwambo, Duly Elected

The Supreme Courth has finally put paid to the ambition of All Progressive Congress’ candidate, Inuwa Yahaya, to govern Gombe State, at least for now.
While it is a big relief for Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of the Peoples Democratic Party, as the Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld his election.
A panel of justices dismissed an appeal filed by the candidate of the APC Yahaya, challenging the election of the Governor in the April 11, 2015 governorship election.
The state election tribunal had earlier confirmed the election of Dankwambo in the April 11 governorship election, dissatisfied, Yahaya went on appeal.
A Court of Appeal in Yola, Adamawa State, agreed with the ruling of the tribunal but Yahaya still went to the Supreme Court, believing he had grounds to upturn the election.
However, the Supreme Court, which is highest court of arbitration in election matters, on Wednesday, also agreed with the rulings of the lower courts.
