Bloody Monday in Aba

There are reports that suggest that the ongoing protest by Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB) and Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State Of Biafra (MASSOB), in Aba, Abia State has turned bloody.
The protest which started Monday afternoon, turned bloody as security agents and members of the group are currently confronting one another.
Information available to the The Street Journal indicate that number of people killed in the confrontation is high. Although, no available figure yet, the Nigeria Military was said to have encountered the protesters and shooting ensured.
Tension was high over the weekend, following the threat by MASSOB and IPOB, to from Monday (today) shut down the region in protests over the continued detention of Radio Biafra Director, Nnamdi Kanu.
Kanu, who was arrested by the Department of State Security (DSS), on October 17, 2015, on arrival from the United Kingdom, has been in DSS detention facility in Abuja even though the Magistrate Court,Wuse 11, and Federal High Court,Abuja Division had both granted him bail and ordered his release.
In a statement by the MASSOB National Director of Information, Samuel Edeson, and IPOB Secretary, Ibem Ugwuoke Ibem, on Sunday, the pro-Biafra groups warned the public to stay at home from Monday as there will be massive civil disobedience, protests and demonstrations in the South-East and parts of the South-South to force the Federal Government to comply with the court orders.
