A Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Mega Filling Station in Dutse, Jigawa State, has been gutted by fire.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on Tuesday night, when an NNPC fuel tanker filled with about 40,000 litres of petrol caught fire while discharging fuel.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the state commandant of National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr Muhammad Fari, said that he had drafted his men to the scene of the inferno.
Fari could, however, not confirm the cause of the fire or any casualty figure.
The Street Journal recalls that exactly one week ago on Tuesday, January 12, another NNPC fuel tanker similarly caught fire while discharging fuel at a filling station at Apo area in Abuja.
