Breaking: Ese Released to IGP, Arase: To Rejoin Her Parents in Bayelsa

The 14-year old Ese Oruru, who was abducted in Bayelsa State and taken to Kano for marriage under Islamic rites has been released to the Inspector General of Police, Solomonn Arase.
News just breaking indicate that the girl was handed over to Arase in Kano onward journey to her parents.
Earlier Monday Arase had said the Emir of Kano’s Hajj to Saudi Arabia was responsible for the delay in securing the release of 14-year-old Ese Oruru.
The ordeal of Ese started in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa, last year when Yinusa a longstanding customer of Ese’s mother sneaked her out of Bayelsa to Kano on the purported excuse that she had converted to Islam and now married to him. Yinusa was a keke ridder in Yenogoa before he eloped with the girl.
The travail of her parents over the past six months, who had travelled to Kano state, indeed caused an outrage when it broke.
Since August 12, 2015 when her parents made the shocking discovery, trips to Kano, the involvement of the police and efforts to get the Emir of Kano, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, at whose palace the girl is believed to be held to resolve the matter and ensure the return of the 14-year-old to her parents, failed.
While her mother was told that Ese had converted to Islam and, therefore, was no longer her daughter, her father was told that his daughter was an 18-year-old adult and not 14, hence she was capable of making decisions for herself.
Minister of Women Affairs had said she would lead the free Ese crusade.after The Punch Newspaper broke the story last Sunday.
However, all these may be unnecessary now that she had regained her Freedom.
