Military Arrests Bombers of Oil Pipelines

The military has recorded a major break through in arresting militants responsible for the spate of oil installations bombings recently in the Niger Delta region.
The Joint Force in the Niger Delta, Operation Pulo Shield, declared, Thursday that they have made some arrest in connection with the bombings.
The Commander, OPS, Maj.-Gen. Alani Okunlola, made the revelation in a statement on Thursday issued by the Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre, Col. Ado Isa.
Okunlola said the arrested suspects were currently undergoing thorough investigation to ascertain their degree of involvement before being handed over to the relevant prosecuting agencies.
He said the OPS was making frantic efforts to track and arrest hoodlums who were on the run.
The Commander, who did not indicate the number of arrests made, said, “The success of the arrest was due to highly intensified patrols and cordon-and-search operations on the waterways, creeks and communities by the outfit.”
Suspected militants recently attacked and vandalised some oil and gas pipelines across the Niger Delta among which were the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation gas pipeline in Egwa 1, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State and Agip pipelines in Brass LGA of Bayelsa State.
The Commander also assured the people of the Niger Delta of the OPS’ determination to wipe out all acts of illegalities in the region.
