Kidnappers of the mother of Taraba Deputy Governor have demanded N300m ransom before she would be released, family source disclosed.
Hajiya Belli Manu was kidmpped Monday night by unknown gunmen.
A member of the Deputy Governor’s family Mallam Bala was said to have told pressmen in Mutum Biyu that they have spoken with their mother severally and she was hale and hearty.
Bala also said they spoke with the kidnappers through the phones they stole from the house when they abducted their mother. He said the abductors were demanding for N300 million as ransom.
Meanwhile, Hajiya Hauwa Belli Mamu has appealed to her children not to allow her idie n the hands of the kidnappers.
The elderly woman appealed to them to meet the demands of her captors to secure her freedom on time.
It was leannt she made the appeal through a phone call to a member of her family.
Speaking on the incident, chairman of Gassol local government area, Alhaji Tukura Bashiru said the kidnapping of the Deputy Governor’s mother was the fifth of such cases recorded in the area in recent times.
Unknown gunmen were said to have takem away Hauwa Belli Manu at her residence in Bakin Kasuwa area of Mutum Biyu town, some 70 kilometers from Jalingo, the state capital.
It was gathered that the kidnappers numbering about ten also killed a middle aged man at the front of the Deputy Governor’s family house before taking the old woman away about 7 pm, Monday.
