Breaking: Suicide Bombers Hit Borno Mosque

A day after the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen.Tukur Buratai said in Abeokuta Ogun State, stated that Boko Haram has been knocked out of reckoning with guerilla tactics, two female suicide bombers early Wednesday morning attacked a Mosque at Umari Village on the outskirts of Miduguri, Borno State capital.
At least 22 persons were said to have been killed and many others injured.
A member of the youth vigilance group said that the suicide bomber attacked a mosque in Molai-Umarari village, behind the Molai Hospital, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the state capital.
According to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the incident occurred at about 5am during the Muslim early morning prayers.
He said members of the youth vigilance group subsequently trooped to the area to offer assistance to the injured and get the dead to the mortuary.
The unidentified suicide bombers came into the mosque undetected while prayers were going on and detonated the explosive that killed the worshipers.
A female suicide bomber disguised as a man detonated one inside the mosque while another waited outside. When people came for rescue, the other one detonated her own outdoor, killing more people.
The sight of female body parts in the male section among the dead proved that the suicide bomber was female, it was learnt.
Buratai had said in Abeokuta, Tuesday, that the Nigerian Army recorded huge success in the fight against Boko Haram because it now adopts the same strategy used by the insurgents to attack Nigeria.
Buratai also said during a courtesy to the Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi that the Nigerian Army added more capacity and ability to its operations with the introduction of motorbike battalion, which enabled it to move quickly to areas where the terrorists were located before they could cause havoc.
Buratai also said that the political will of President Muhammadu Buhari to defeat the terrorists, the leadership of the Nigeria Army and the resilience of the troops were the secret behind the successes recorded so far by the army.
He said, “We are using the same guerrilla strategy adopted by the terrorists. We are giving them back their own strategy. We have motorbike battalion which has added more capacity as well as the ability to move quickly to wherever the terrorists are.
“We have intensified a number of actions that will help the troops get to the terrorists before they run out of their hideout or cause any havoc. To totally wipe out Boko Haram, we require the support of everybody. They live among us and are everywhere and we require very good intelligence to fish them out. But the most important thing is to prevent them from having the capacity to launch attacks on innocent individuals and on our troops’ location.”
