Chairman of Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) Danladi Umar has finally bowed to pressure to entertain the hearing of a motion to disqualify himself himself from the trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who is facing false assets declaration and fraud related matters at the CCT.
The suit was filed by counsel to Saraki, Ajibola Oluyede.
Last Thursday, April 21 proceedings at the Tribunal was disrupted when Justice Umar lost his temper at Oluyede and ordered him walked out from the court room.
Umar had repeatedly yelled at Oluyede to “Sit Down!” when the counsel attempted to bring up the motion relating to his bribery charges.
Oluyede, discussing the motion in court, cited reasons why Justice Umar should stand down himself from the case.
At Wednesday proceedings, Oluyede said that Umar’s relationship with the EFCC, as a suspect in a N10million bribery investigation, made him morally unjustified to sit on the case .
