In what would have been a monumental wreck on the city of Maiduguri, Borno State, Friday, was foiled by the security conscious Civilian JTF members.
It was gathered that JTF members stopped attempts by Boko Haram on Friday morning to bomb Maiduguri by four suspected suicide attackers on a suicide mission.
The would be bombers were said to have been killed near Jimini village in Jere LGA area on the outskirts of state’s capital this morning.
Vigilant members of JTF on guard were said to have spotted four teenagers wandering and asked them to raise up their hands but the teenagers refused and kept heading towards the vigilantes. The vigilante were left with no option than to open fire on them.
A member of Civilian JTF who revealed this to the journalists, said the teens wrapped improvised explosive devices around their bellies.
“Four suicide bombers were sighted coming from the nearby bush at about 5:15am this morning but their plot to wreak havoc on the residents of Maiduguri was averted by our gallant Civilian JTF members stationed at the outskirts of Maiduguri. They were all shot dead, and none of them escaped,” he said.
There has not been Independent confirmation of the story.
