A 27-year-old man, simply identified as Efe, has been paraded by the police in Benin, for allegedly robbing a commercial sex worker (name withheld), at gunpoint.
Efe who allegedly poised as a prospective customer to his victim, was said to have approached her for sex at about 11.30 pm at Ofunmwegbe town (Okada junction), Benin-Lagos road, Ovia North-East local government area of Edo State.
Narrating her ordeal, the victim alleged that after settling on price with Efe, she led him into her room in the hotel for sex, but all of a sudden, the man pulled out a short gun and dispossessed her of cash and other valuables.
The wss when she raised the alarm that attracted policemen and vigilante in the neighbourhood who later apprehended the man.
“I was sitting in front of a hotel at Ofunmwegbe town, when Efe approached me for sex. While we were inside the room the suspect bailed me up with a locally made pistol and robbed me. Immediately the suspect left the room I raised an alarm, and he was arrested,” she narrated before the police.
But speaking in his defence, the suspect who alleged that he was framed up and arrested while on his legitimate mission, denied knowing the commercial sex worker, let alone approaching her for sex.
Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Chris Ezike, who paraded the suspect with 74 others suspects, disclosed that one locally made pistol was recovered from him. He added that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
