Against the backdrop that the Enugu State Commisioner of Polce, Nwodibo Ekechukwu, has been sacked, the Nigeria Police on Tuesday said contrary, he has been transferred and replaced by Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Emmanuel Ojukwu.
The transfer is coming a week after Fulani herdsmen attacked Ukpabi Nimbo community of the state, where more 40 people were reportedly killed.
Outrage followed, especially as it was reported that the state Police Command had fore knowledge of the attack but failed to prevent it.
However, the Force Spokesperson, Olabisi Kolawole, said the Commissioner was not sacked, and his redeployment had nothing to do with the attack but a routine exercise.
“No, the CP was not sacked. He was only redeployed and we didn’t issue a statement on it because it is a normal procedure in the Force.
“He has been redeployed to Eastern Port Authority in Port Harcourt and it has nothing to do with herdsmen attack in the state,” Kolawole stated.
