Senate Adjourns Sitting for One Week, Resumes May 12

The Nigerian Upper House Thursday adjourned plenary till May 12. This, according to findings, is to allow the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senators to take part in their party congresses.

Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, who moved the motion that the business of the day as listed in the Order Paper be suspended following the absence of most PDP Senators in the chamber, said the one week break will avail PDP members of the House the opportunity to participate fully in the local, state congresses of party, which are ongoing across the states.

This is as the Senate did not consider any motion or bill as the number of Senators present during the day’s plenary was not up to the required number to form a quorum, Thursday.

Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, Deputy Minority Leader, seconded the motion.
