Coalition of pro-Biafra groups on Friday, has alleged that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, killed by the military, Monday, were been given mass burial.
The group said that the over 30 IPOB and MASSOB members allegedly shot during a rally to mark the 50th anniversary of the defunct Biafra in Asaba, Delta State and Onitsha, Anambra State, have been given a mass burial by the army
It also alleged that some pro-Biafra activists, who were arrested alive during the encounter, have been killed and buried.
The group further alleged that detained pro-Biafra activists were subjected to torture.
In a statement by the Media and Publicity Officer of the pro-Biafra group, Comrade Emma Powerful, disclosed that the army was secretly burying its members.
The pro-Biafra which met in Enugu, Friday, endorsed the Biafra agitators’ call for a referendum to decide the future of Nigeria.
The group said: “The Indigenous People of Biafra, under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, cries out over the deaths and the mass burial of Biafrans during the remembrance of Biafra heroes and heroines on Monday, 30th May, 2016.
“We discovered that the Nigerian Army and police decided to kill those they arrested alive and bury them with the dead bodies they carried on the same day,” the IPOB spokesman said.
The statement also said that the Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, should be held responsible for the ordeal of the Biafra agitators in the state.
