Court Sends Jonathan’s Cousin to Kuje Prisons

A cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan is to be remanded in Kuje Prisons, Abuja. This was the order of a Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.

Azibaola Rober is being held by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over a scam involving $40m.

Since March when he was invited for questioning over receiving the said sum from Sambo Dasuki, former National Security Adviser (NSA), he has been in the custody of EFCC.

Azibaola and his wife, Stella, were formally arraigned before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba for allegedly receiving a $40m contract from embattled former NSA, Tuesday.

The anti-graft agency has slammed a seven-count charge on them for allegedly using Oneplus Holding Limited, their company to siphon the money.

Stella was taken into custody on Monday ahead of the trial.

While the court ruled that Stella could continue to enjoy the administrative bail earlier granted her by the EFCC, the Judge adjourned till Wednesday, June 8 to rule on the bail application by Azibaola.
