A 41 year old-man, Francis Emmanuel, on Wednesday, would have lost his life but for neighbours who quickly rushed him for medical attention.
He was said to have been stabbed by a gang of six youths, believed to be Muslims, because he was not fasting.
The young men said to be armed with daggers stabbed him severally at a restaurant in Kakuri, Kaduna.
The incident raised tension to a boiling point but was put off by the state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who rushed to St. Gerald Catholic Hospital, where the man was admitted, about a kilometre from Sokoto Street, Kakuri, where the incident took place.
After seeing the victim, the Governor promised to track down the culprits to face justice.
Speaking at the hospital bed, Emmanuel said he was taking his launch when the boys numbering about six, suddenly descended on him for not fasting, saying it was God who saved him.
