The Police Service Commissioner said it has moved seven Commissioners of Police to Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, while it also elevated 4, 535 senior officers to the next rank between May and June 2016.
A statement by the Head, Press and Public Relations, PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, on Monday in Abuja, said six Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to CPs, 20 Assistant Commissioners of Police were elevated to DCPs, and eight Chief Superintendents of Police to ACPs.
Othes include 107 Superintendents to CSPs; 1,431 Deputy Superintendents to Superintendents; 1,252 Assistant Superintendents to DSPs and 1,711 Inspectors to ASPs.
Meanwhile, 16 offices were promoted “based on exceptional performance and dedication to duty on the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase.”
Also two officers were promoted for acts of gallantry while 188 others were placed on acting appointment on their next rank.
