Sheriff Now In charge of PDP National Secretariat as IG Orders Policemen to Vacate Secretariat

The Ali Modu Sheriff led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has taken a firm hold of the party’s National Secretariat as the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, ordered Policemen guarding the place to leave.

Sheriff has now gained entry into the party’s National Secretariat after four attempts.

This follows the withdrawal of the detachment of policemen stationed in and around the building  on the orders of the IGP.

Sheriff, who stormed the secretariat of the party earlier on Monday was denied access into the building by the police.

Sheriff who insisted that he is the authentic chairman of the party, berated alleged partisanship of the police.

He had told his followers this morning at the Secretariat: “We have a court order in our hand to allow us to go into our office but the Inspector General of Police, after having a truce with him that nobody should be allowed until we have decided, he decided to take the law into his hands and allowed the wrong people.

“We will be law abiding, but Nigeria Police is made for Nigerian people to observe the rule of law.

“The law clearly stated that the Inspector General of Police should give us police to go into the office, but he brought platoon of police to block the office.

“We will go back because we do not want some miscreants to take the law into their hands.

“We will wait and take the matter beyond Nigeria Police Force,” he had said
