Brigadier General Boroh, who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta, encouraged state governments in the region to find a way of engaging the militants for meaningful development. This is coming at a period that the Nigerian government is making efforts to end the resurgence of militant activities in the Niger Delta region. Some of the militants in the region had of late taken up arms and have attacked oil installations in the region. A group that calls itself the Niger Delta Avengers has claimed responsibility for most attacks. Recently, the group said it has agreed to a ceasefire and was ready for negotiation with the Nigerian government.
