Fleeing Boko Haram Commander Arrested in Lagos

The Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has confirmed the arrest of fleeing Boko Haram Commander in Lagos, running from Sambisa Forest.
It was gathered that the unnamed commander was arrested in the Ikorodu area of Lagos on Saturday, December 24.
Buratai disclosed this on Sunday at the re-opening of two major roads (Maiduguri-Gubio-Damasak and Maiduguri-Monguno-Baga) in Borno State which were closed since 2013 at the height of Boko Haram attacks in the northern State.
Buratai charged troops not to rest on their oars, while advising them to pursue the fleeing Boko Haram terrorists and intercept them.
“You must maintain the momentum of the operation. We must pursue the terrorists wherever they are. We must not allow them to regroup,” he said.
He said the Army “has no time to waste” despite taking over the terrorists’ last stronghold in the Sambisa forest.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari announced the fall of Boko Haram’s last stronghold in a goodwill message on Saturday, December 24.
He said the achievement was made at around 1.30pm on Friday, December 23.
