Senate Screens Magu Thursday for Confirmation

At last, the Senate is ready to screen the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu for confirmation as substantive chairman of the commission.
Recall, President Muhammadu Buhari had sent his name for confirmation since June 17 this year but for reason known to the Senate has refused to screen him.
The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over Wednesday’s plenary told his colleagues that the Senate was set to conduct confirmation hearing on Magu’s appointment on Thursday.
Buhari had appointed Magu as acting Chairman of the EFCC in November 2015, following the removal of Ibrahim Lamorde, and has remained in the acting capacity for one year.
Also to be screened during Thursday’s confirmation hearing are four members of the commission.
The affected appointees are Moses Ndasule, Mamman Lawan, Imam Najib Galadanci and Adebayo Rafiu Adeleke.
