17-year Old Boy Caught with Bag of Hemp Tells Police, My Grandfather Gave Me

The Police in Benin have nabbed a 17-year-old boy, Joel Olubare, with a bag of substance suspected to be canabis sativa.
Joel who claimed to be a SS3 student, was arrested at a brothel at Lampese, in Edo North, where he apparently went to sell the drug.
He added that he was sent away from school because of his inability to pay school fees.
The teenage suspect who said the bag of weed was given to him by his grandfather, was among suspects paraded by the Edo State Police Command Monday.
According to him, “I am not a cultist. I am in SS3 and I also do aluminum work. I was driven from school because of school fees. I went to ask my grandfather for school fees and he gave him the Indian Hemp to hold.
“It is my grandfather that is into the business. I went to see him for my school fees and he asked me to wait and that I should leave for school tomorrow. They called him for a meeting and gave me the Indian Hemp. My grandfather knows how much he makes from the business.”
Also paraded by the police was a dreaded suspected cultist, Emmanuel Ogbemudia, who the police said has engaged in series of cult-related killings within Third East Circular and Ogie areas in Benin City.
Emmanuel was allegedly arrested while on a revenge mission to kill rival cultist.
Items recovered from him included two locally made guns, two live cartridges and one battle axe.
Edo Police Commissioner, Haliru Gwandu, said the suspects would soon be charged to court.
