Edo APC Boils as Party Suspends Youth Leader, Others

Crisis is brewing in the Edo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), over suspension of over 30 leaders of the party in the state.
Among those allegedly suspended are leaders of the party from various wards across the state.
Those suspended include the youth leader, Osakpamwan Eriyo and others, Chief Francis Inegbeneki and Chief Henry Okoror, state Vice Chairman for Edo Central, for allegedly holding the State Chairman of the party, Anslem Ojezua, hostage in Okoror’s house.
According to a statement signed by the state chairman of the party, Barr. Ojezua, the State Working Committee of the party had in a meeting ratified the suspension.
The statement said a committee headed by the State Secretary of the party, Osaro Idah, has been set up to investigate the circumstance surrounding the unfortunate incident and submit a report in one month.
When contacted for comment, Chief Inegbineki who alleged that Ojezua is on a mission to destroy APC in Edo, noted that the suspension of the some state leaders of the party was part of the ploy to destroy the party.
He alleged that he became object of attack by Ojezua because he had petitioned the National Working Committee of the party over his (Ojezua) anti-party activities and embezzlement of party funds.
Reacting to his suspension, Inegbeneki dismissed the allegation as an attempt by Ojezua to give him a bad name for submitting a petition to the leadership of the party.
The APC chieftain who said he was not surprised by Ojezua’s action, said since he was appointed as the party leader in the Edo Central senatorial district, Ojezua has seen him as a threat because he knew that he would not be able to control him, just as he accused him of allegedly issuing threats against him.
Inegbeneki blamed Ojezua for the alleged inability of the party to manage its victory after the September 28 governorship election, adding that “since Anselm came, our fortune in the state has been dwindling because of his inefficiency and anti-party activities.”
“I am saying that I can never be cowed. I want the world to know that that Anselm is on a fruitless journey,” he added.
