Chelsea moved 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League with a comfortable win over Arsenal. Marcos Alonso opened the scoring from close range when he headed in the rebound after Diego Costa’s effort hit the crossbar.
The Blues doubled their lead seven minutes after the break when Eden Hazard tucked the ball past Petr Cech after a fantastic individual run which began on the halfway line. Cesc Fabregas put the game beyond his former club when he lobbed past Cech after a poor clearance. Olivier Giroud scored a late consolation goal for the visitors, who are now 12 points behind their London rivals, reports the BBC.
The referee blows his whistle for the final time and the Hull fans go wild! It’s totally understandable, as their side were excellent this afternoon and thoroughly deserve to leave with all three points. They sat deep and frustrated Liverpool with brilliant defending before hitting the Reds’ disjointed back line with several well-worked counter-attacking moves. Sturridge goes close! Origi and Firmino link up well before the latter chips a clever pass into the heart of the Hull penalty area, but, despite being at full stretch, Sturridge is unable to make contact with the ball in front of goal.
