Police Disperse Shi’ites Protesters In Kaduna

Police dispersed members of the banned Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) as they staged a peaceful protest Thursday, calling on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to obey a court order and release their leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.

The protesters, carrying posters of Sheikh Zakzaky with inscriptions such as “FreeZakzaky” on them, said that Osinbajo should set a good precedent by releasing Zakzaky as a professor of law and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
The leader of the protesters, Sheikh Qasim Umar, who had quickly delivered his speech before the arrival of the police, said that the Shi’ites are the most oppressed community in recent Nigerian history.
