Benin Traditional Ruler Honoured With UN Global Peace Ambassador, By Isaac Eranga

The Enogie of Utteh Ekoko of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, HRH Ogieayevbona Igbinenikao, has been honoured with an award of Global Peace Ambassador by the International Organization of Advocates for Global Peace and Development under the auspices of the United Nations Organisation (UNO) International Mother’s Language Day which is usually celebrated 21st day of February every year.
Presenting the award in Benin, the West African regional Director, Amb. Bishop Prosperity Udoji said the UN believes in mother contraband as a result, they deemed it necessary to acknowledge Chiefs and Royal Highnesses around the globe, who distinguish themselves in global peace.
He said mother tongues has intrinsic relationship with peaceful coexistence, which on the other hand, guarantees development. “The Enogie of Utteh Ekoko is an extension of God’s peace in the land”, he said.
According to Amb. Udoji, “the International Organisation of Advocates for Global Peace and Development was formed at an assemblage of UN Peace Volunteer, and it came to Nigeria in 2010 during the second term of Ban Ki Moon as UN Secretary General”.
He noted that the organisation provides platform for community participation in peace buildings.
In his acceptance speech, HRH Igbinenikao thanked the UN for the award; he assured the subjects that he would maintain peace and to ensure that there is no quarrel and violence in his domain. “Good things will continue to reign in this community and I pray that God should give me and my edionwere (elders) more strength to continue the good work of peace in this community”, he said.
