Breaking: Edo Guber: Tribunal Strikes Out PDP, Iyamu’s Petitions, Declares Obaseki Duly Elected

The Edo State election petition tribunal, sitting in Benin Friday dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, challenging the declaration of Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress, as winner of the September 28, 2016 governorship election in the State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had declared Obaseki, winner of the election.
Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Ahmed Badamasi, in a judgement that lasted for about two hours and 10 minutes, said the petitioners failed to prove that the election was marred with non compliance with electoral guidelines, whereas the defendants proved that the conduct of the election was credible.
He therefore dismissed the petitions of the petitioners.
