Group Canvasses for Appointment of Edo North Candidate as UBTH CMD

Medical professionals under the aegis of friends of Edo North, have called on the Federal Government to ensure fairness and promote federal character in the appointment of substantive Chief Medical Director for the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
They called on the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, to insist on fairness, equity and justice and respect for federal character by ensuring that a candidate from Edo North emerges CMD of the hospital in the interest of all stakeholders.
They pointed out that Edo South and Edo Central senatorial districts had in the last two decades produced the Chief Medical Directors of the Hospital.
The group noted that the appointment of candidates of Edo North descent to head the hospital was long overdue, insisting that Prof. Sylvester Idogun, is qualified to be appointed to the exulted position.
It would be recalled that the Federal Ministry of Healty recently conducted interview for all who applied for the position, from which three were shortlisted, out of which one will be appointed Chief Medical Director.
The three shortlisted candidates are Dr. Darlington Obaseki, who is the Acting Chief Media Director, Prof. Sylvester Idogun, a Professor of Chemical Pathology and Prof. Alfred Ogbemudia, an Orthopaedic Surgeon.
