Human Traficking: Court Remands Italian-based Suspect in Prison Custody

A Benin Magistrate Court, Tuesday, ordered the remand of an Italian-based human trafficking suspect, Mrs. Lasiru Dolly Rossett in prison custody for human trafficking.
The court ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody for alleged involvement in trafficking young girls from Benin to Italy for prostitution.
The suspect was charged with offences in contravention of Section 15(a) & 19(b) of Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Law Enforcement and Administration Act 2003 as amended.
Specifically, Mrs. Rossato was accused of procuring a 19-year-old victim (name withheld) for prostitution in Italy in August, 2014.
The Chief Magistrate F. E. Akhere, remanded the suspect in prison custody and adjourned the case to September 18, 2017, for mention.
