Boko Haram Leadership in Disarray as Troops Kill 6 Members

The Nigerian Army said on Wednesday its troops have put the leadership of Boko Haram in disarray and thus called on the foot soldiers to give up their arms.
The army said repentant militants who agreed to come out of hiding will be pardoned.
A statement by Brigadier General Sani Usman, Director Army Public Relations called on Boko Haram remnants to heed the advice immediately and lay down their arms to secure their future.
The statement said: “This is to call on the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists wherever you are hiding, to give up forthwith.
“This is because your ideology of Boko Haram is dead and no longer tenable.
“There is no reason to be suffering or fighting a lost cause.
“As you are aware, your leaders have abandoned you and could no longer be of any help to you.
“Therefore you should all surrender to avoid dying like dogs because of the ongoing concerted military clearance operations.”
In related development, Brigadier Usman, on Wednesday, revealed that six Boko Haram fighters met their waterloo during a fight with troops.
The incident occurred at Bulabulin and Mongole villages of Dikwa local government area of Borno State
“Troops of 22 Brigade Dikwa under 7 Division of Operation LAFIA DOLE in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force ambushed suspected members of Boko Haram terrorists between Bulabirin and Mongole villages of Dikwa Local Government Area in Borno State.
“During the encounter, the troops neutralized 6 terrorists, while several others sustained various bullet wounds.
“Troops also recovered 6 bicycles, 3 dane guns and 1 machete from the terrorists,” the statement said.
Usman reiterated that the Nigerian Army will sustain the clearance operation until unrepentant terrorists were eliminated from the shores of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, a factional leader of Boko Haram, Abu Musad Al-Barnawi, has predicted that the Abubakar Shekau-led faction will suffer defeat at the hands of the Nigerian
Habib Yusuf, also known as Abu Musab al-Barnawi, who is the son of Boko Haram founder Muhammed Yusuf, made the prediction in a video uploaded on YouTube to Tuesday, August 8, where he accused Shekau of going against the objectives of the insurgent group.
Al-Barnawi said the group was created by Muhammad Yusuf for the purpose of propagating good teachings and practice of Islam.
He, however, stated that Shekau had turned Boko Haram to an avenue for perpetrating all forms of criminality.
Abu Musab al-Barnawi was announced by Islamic State (IS) as the factional leader of Boko Haram on August 3, 2016.
