Delta CP Refutes Miyetti Allah Cattle Association’s Claims

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Zanna Mohammed Ibrahim has warned the Publicity Secretary of Miyetti Allah Cattle Association, to stop the deliberate falsification of figure of casualties involved in clash between the group and a Delta community.
The association had said that scores of members of the associated were killed by communities in the state
But the Commissioner faulted the figure, adding that 10 herdsmen and seven members of the Delta Communities were killed.
The Delta State Publicity Secretary of Miyetti Allah Kautalhore’s, Yusuf Musa Ardo on BBC Hausa Service broadcast said earlier that 350 cows were slaughtered by Communities in Delta from January 2017 to date.
In a statement signed by the Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka , the CP described the allegations as “false, misleading and a calculated attempt to incite a section of the public against the Police and communities in the State.”
Ibrahim frowned at “the irresponsible act of misinforming the public by inflating the figure of casualties suffered by the herdsmen, while at the same time mischievously remaining silent on that suffered by the communities.”
The CP said there had been “hitherto pockets of unnecessary skirmishes and reprisal attacks which had resulted in the unfortunate loss of lives of 10 herdsmen and seven members of the communities, as well as destruction of farmlands, stealing and slaughtering of cattle and thereby creating tension in the affected communities, between January 2017 to date.”
Ibrahim warned the Miyetti Allah Kautalhore’s Publicity Secretary to stop inciting the general public, just as he enjoined same to always verify its facts before going to the public.
He expressed happiness that the state was relatively peaceful now owing to a number of measures which include regular stakeholders/town hall meetings and setting up of conflict resolution committee, at identified flash points in Delta State by the Command in conjunction with the State Government and other key actors.
While emphasising that peaceful resolution of conflicts should always be pursued as the best and lawful option, Ibrahim called on the public to disregard the false and inciting claims of Miyetti Allah Katauhore through its publicity secretary.
He stressed that they should continue to follow the path of peace at all times as the Command continually and consciously makes effort to serve them better.
