Police Rescue Kidnapped 14 Passengers in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command disclosed Friday that 14 passengers kidnapped by unknown gunmen at the Ndele axis of the East-West Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, last Monday, have been rescued.
A passenger bus was on Monday ambushed and its passengers marched into the forest by the gunmen.
However, Spokesman of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni said on Friday that all the tactical units were mobilised by the Commissioner of Police to rescue the victims.
Omoni, who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said all the 14 passengers were rescued unhurt.
The Command commended the effort of members of the community where the kidnappers used as their hideouts.
“We have rescued them. It was not easy but we had to go all out. We engaged the people of the community who decided to offer information that helped us rescue the victims.
“All the Tactical Units were activated for this operation with the Commissioner of Police personnaly monitoring the progress.
“I can tell you that all the 14 victims were rescued alive,” he said.
He did not say if any arrest was made.
