Police Rescue Abducted DPO, Others in Niger State

The police in Niger State on Thursday said they have rescued a Divisional Police Officer attached to the Sarkin Pawa Police Division in Munya Local Government Area of Niger state, Amos Ali, his orderly and four others. They were abducted on October 16.
This is as the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had said that the kidnapping of police officers in recent times was an embarrassment to the police
Addressing the monthly meeting with senior police officer, Commissioner of Police and above, Thursday in Abuja, Idris decried the kidnapping of the DPO.
Austine Agbonlahor, Commissioner of Police, said in Minna on Thursday, that the officer, SP Amos Aliyu, was rescued along with other victims in an operation.
He said, “Yes the senior police officer, along with five others, were rescued and have since been reunited with there loved ones.”
He said that the victims were rescued with the aid of useful information from some members of the public.
He explained that the command was taking proactive security measures to deal with any form of security threat.
“We have already deployed sufficient security personnel in identified areas prone to criminal activities.
“We are battle ready to confront any form of security threat to enable residents to move on with there legitimate business,” he added.
He called for more cooperation from the public to enable the police rid the state of criminals.
