Following the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu’s letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, complaining of the insubordination of Maikanti Baru, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the Senate has set up a panel to probe the matter.
Kachikwu had petitioned the President that Baru had humiliated him and taken decisions without recourse to the board, which he (Minister) is the Chairman, among others.
The allegations which includes the award of $25bn contract in violation of the due process were made against Baru in a petition to Buhari. The memo leaked to newsmen on Tuesday.
However, the Senate on Wednesday said the panel will also investigate the policy introduced by the NNPC Trading Limited, a subsidiary of the corporation, among other issues.
