Igbinedion University Offers Automatic Employment To Best Graduating Amnesty Students

The management of Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, has offered​ automatic employment to graduands of the institution under the Federal Government Amnesty Programme, who graduated with Second Class Upper Division.
Also to enjoy the same benefit are students from Kano, Katsina, Gombe and Bauchi States, who graduated with Second Class Upper Division.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Eghosa Osaghae, who made the pronouncement on Friday at the 15th Convocation ceremony of the institution, said that was the least the school could do to encourage hard work among the students.
A total of 634 students graduated from the institution, with 11 in the First Class Division, 220 in the 2nd Class Upper, 248 in the 2nd Class Lower Division and 15 in the 3rd Class.
The VC noted that despite the monumental contributions of private universities to the nation’s economic development, the Federal Government has constantly strangulated and starved them of funds by its refusal to give private universities TETFUND and bursaries to students in the institutions across the country.
He said the institution’s Smart Partnership Programme with some states in the North has yielded positive results and the school hopes to consolidate on such relationships.
On his part, the institution’s Chancellor, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, disclosed that the school will henceforth give out scholarship to best students in science and technology courses​ in entry examination from next year.
Igbinedion, who was epresented by the Deputy Chancellor and former Governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion, appealed to the Federal Government to review its policy of funding university education so that private institutions can also benefit from the TETFUND and other education grants.
Delivering the convocation lecture entitled: “Restructuring and the Future of Nigeria,” the guest speaker, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, said the Federal Government​ should yield to the calls for restructuring of the country.
