Jide Tinubu Died of Heart Attack as Buhari, Others Mourn

Jide Tinubu, first son of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu, may have died of heart attack, family source revealed.
Jide was said to have suddenly collapsed and died from what was suspected to be a heart attack around 9 pm on Tuesday.
“However, after the incidence, close family members rushed him down to hospital on Lagos Island where he was confirmed dead on arrival,” the source said.
Jide, 43, an accomplished lawyer, was said to have complained of chest pain before he collapsed.
The family member added that the tragic news was kept secret because the father, Bola Tinubu, was in Abuja for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of his party, the APC.
Chairman of APC in Lagos, Otunba Henry Ajomale confirmed Jide’s death in a short statement he (Ajomale) issued on Wednesday.
“It’s with regrets that I inform you of the demise of Mr. Jide Tinubu, the Son of Our dear and esteemed Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement said.
Condelences have since poured in for the late Jide.
Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode was one of the early callers at Tinubu house on Bourdillion road, Ikoyi, Lagos yesterday.
President Muhammadu Buhari, the APC, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; Governor Abiola Ajimobi and pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere condoled with Tinubu over the death of his son.
Buhari in a telephone call, Wednesday, to Tinubu on behalf of the Federal Government and his family, offered his deepest condolences to the Tinubu family over the loss of Jide.
The President, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, described the transition of Jide as “sad and painful”, adding that the nation has been denied the services and potentials of the resourceful lawyer.
He prayed that God will grant the Tinubu family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and comfort all who mourn the passage of the promising gentleman.
Also, the APC said it received the sad news of the death of Jide Tinubu, “with great shock and grief.”
APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, in a statement said: “It is never easy losing a child or any loved one. Indeed, it is hardest when they are taken from us too soon. Many who met the late Jide Tinubu, who was a lawyer, fondly described him as cerebral, industrious and full of life.
“In this moment of grief, the Party offers its sincere condolence and deepest sympathy to His Excellency and other immediate family members over the painful loss. May the outpouring of sympathy and the comfort in knowing that the late Jide’s death is felt by many, help the family through this difficult time.We pray Almighty Allah (SWT) grant the late Jide eternal rest,” the statement added.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives said he was shocked to receive the sad news of the sudden death of Jide Tinubu.
Dogara said: “The late Deji was a lawyer of high repute who cut his teeth in the maritime sector and was hard-working and enterprising. It is saddening that a father buries his son. I can only imagine your pain and grief at this time.”
Governor Ajimobi, in a statement by his Special Adviser, Communication and Strategy, Yomi Layinka, expressed regrets that the cold hands of death have snatched another promising and ebullient young man.
Ajimobi described the sudden death of the APC national leader’s son as not only shocking but unfortunate and disheartening. The governor said: “My dear Asiwaju, please accept my heartfelt condolences. On behalf of myself, family and the good people of Oyo State, I pray that God will give you the strength and courage to bear this monumental loss.”
Commiserating with Tinubu, Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Yinka Odumakin said “it is a sad and tragic news. We pray that God will grant the family the fortitude to bear this great loss.”
