Nigerian Troops Kill 7 Boko Haram Terrorists as NAF Kills Scores in Air Strikes

The Nigerian Army on Tuesday said its troops had killed three Boko Haram insurgents in Sabsawa axis of Sambisa forest area of Operation.
In a statement issued in Maiduguri, Brig-General Sani Usman , the Director, Army Public Relations, said that the troops killed the insurgents in an ambush on Monday at Sabsawa while trying to cross into Tangos area.
The statement reads: “Troops of Sector 1, Operation Lafiya Dole, deployed at Miyanti, while on fighting patrol along Miyanti-Darel Jamel, encountered Boko Haram terrorists on Monday.
“The troops engaged the terrorists and neutralised four of them. Machetes, knives and N5,500 was recovered from the insurgents.
“Meanwhile, troops of 202 Battalion, Sector 1, Operation Lafiya Dole, in the early hours of Monday, ambushed unsuspecting Boko Haram terrorists along Sabsawa axis.
“The troops neutralised three insurgents trying to cross between Tangos and recovered AK-47 rifles and Improvised Explosives Devices (IED).”
The Nigeria Air Force (NAF) also said on Tuesday that it bombed Boko Haram targets in the Northeast, killing many of the insurgents through air strikes.
A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya, said the Air Force carried out series of interdictions and destroyed Boko Haram structures in Bogumeri and Gwoza towns.
The statement reads: “In furtherance of Operation Lafiya Dole, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), on November 24, neutralised a large gathering of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) in Bogumeri, Borno State.
“A NAF platform, while on routine Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), had discovered the gathering. Consequently, NAF fighter aircrafts were detailed to carry out air interdiction on the target, in quick succession. The Alpha Jet fighter aircraft attacked the target with bombs, killing the insurgents and setting some structures ablaze.
“In a separate attack on November 28, the NAF neutralised another large gathering of BHTs in Gobara, 15km North West of Gwoza. A NAF ISR platform had discovered the armed terrorists, who were gathered by a building that was apparently being used as a hideout.
“The subsequent air strike resulted in the immediate destruction of the target building, the killing all terrorists.”
