Lone Bicycle Rider Detonates Bomb, Kills 2 in Borno

A lone suicide bomber, riding on a bicycle, suspected to be a member of Boko Haram, was said to detonated a bomb killing three and injuring 17 people in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Confirming the report on Tuesday, the Borno State Police Command said three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force were killed in the attackon Monday night in Maiduguri, the state capital.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Joseph Kwaji, said in a statement that the incident occurred at 8:30 p.m. at Muna Delti area of Maiduguri.
Kwaji said a male suicide bomber who was riding a bicycle detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (EID) strapped to his body, killing him and three CJTF members in the area.
He said 17 other persons sustained injuries in the blast, adding that those injured were evacuated to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for treatment.
According to him, the police Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) team had sanitized the area while normalcy had been restored.
