2 Docked For Stealing Governor’s Phone!


A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo presided over by Magistrate Olusola Aluko yesterday remanded one Babatunde Ogunjobi (32) and Abdulgafar Yusuf, aged 24 in prison custody. The two were in court for allegedly stealing a Sony Ericson mobile phone belonging to the Osun State Governor, Engr. Rauf Aregbesola.
The offence was allegedly committed around 4.30 pm on the 27th November, 2010 during the inauguration ceremony of Engr. Aregbesola as the Governor of Osun State at the playing ground of the Technical College, Osogbo.
Both men were also accused of using the phone which had the SIM card with the number 08039404966 belonging to the Governor to call and defraud unsuspecting members of the public. This they did by posing that they were obtaining money from them on behalf of the Governor.
The charge sheet read in court revealed that Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland was one of their victims. The monarch was called and asked to pay a sum of N 500,000 into an Intercontinental Bank account number which belonged to one Abdulgafar Yusuf. The monarch subsequently paid the amount into the account number 1007440399 from the Ilesa branch of the bank. It was also confirmed that Yusuf, the account holder withdrew N 495,000 from a branch of the bank in Lagos State.
